29 teams vie for top honours in SPH Foundation National Primary Schools Tchoukball Championships

SPH Foundation hosted the fifth edition of the SPH Foundation National Primary Schools Tchoukball Championships on 17 May (Girls Senior Division) and 19 May (Boys Senior Division).

Organised by Tchoukball Association of Singapore (TBAS), the event comprises two categories, namely the Senior Division (for boys and girls aged 13 years and under), and the Junior Division (for boys and girls aged 11 years and under). Similar to previous editions, the Junior Division will be played in November.

Beacon Primary School (BPS) claimed the Girls' title after defeating Junyuan Primary School (JPS) 13 - 7 in the finals. JPS, despite being the host and playing in front of their home fans, could not surpass a resilient BPS defence.

In the Boys' category, Greendale Primary School beat Farrer Park Primary School 14 - 8, after overcoming their quater final and semi final opponents with double digit scores.

Ginney Lim, General Manager of SPH Foundation, said: "Tchoukball has been growing in popularity in Singapore and is a meaningful sport that inculcates values such as teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship amongst the participants. We are happy to be the title sponsor of the SPH Foundation National Primary Schools Tchoukball Championships for the fifth consecutive year."

Mr Jeff Ang, General Secretary, TBAS, said: "SPH Foundation continues to be our valued partner this year in presenting more opportunities to play Tchoukball to schools throughout Singapore. Participants show strong commitment and quality as they pursue the sport."
