Application for Lim Kim San Memorial Scholarship Now Open

Singapore, 05 March 2009Full-time undergraduate students interested in or who are pursuing full-time language studies can now apply for the Lim Kim San Memorial Scholarship.

Targeted at Singaporeans from low-income families, the household income was capped at $3,000 per month since the awards were introduced in 2006. But starting this year, students whose monthly household income is $5,000 or less may apply for the scholarships.

Ms Ginney Lim, General Manager of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Foundation, said, “One should never compromise on a good education, even in difficult times. We hope that by relaxing the application criteria, more students who need the financial assistance to further their studies will be eligible to apply.”

The Lim Kim San Memorial Scholarship awards are tenable for full-time courses in English, Chinese, Malay and Indian Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU) and SIM University (UniSIM).

The bond-free scholarship awards cover all course and tuition fees for up to a 4-year honours degree and include a living and book allowance for the selected students.

Application for the 2009 scholarship awards are now open and application forms can be downloaded from .

The Lim Kim San Memorial Scholarships were introduced in 2006, in recognition of the outstanding contributions of the late Mr Lim Kim San to Singapore.
