First winner of the inaugural SPH Foundation Singapore Universities Business Quiz unveiled

Singapore,14 March 2009SPH Foundation, the title sponsor of the Singapore Universities Business Quiz, is pleased to announce Singapore Management University as the winner of this inaugural competition. The Finals took place this morning at the SPH News Centre auditorium.

This follows two rounds of gruelling competition that started in February 2009. It involved 30 teams from the four universities - 17 from the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), eight teams from the National University of Singapore (NUS), three from the Singapore Management University (SMU) and two from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Mr Alan Chan, Director of SPH Foundation and CEO of SPH was the guest-of-honour for the Finals and gave away the prizes for the top two teams. Singapore Management University won over $6,000 worth of cash and prizes while second-placed Nanyang Technological University received over $4,000 worth of cash and prizes.

Mr Chan said, “I am impressed with the participants’ high standards of business knowledge and current affairs. They have worked hard in their preparations and their passion and dynamism helped make this event a success. I would like to thank the four local universities for their strong support and interest in SPH Foundation's inaugural business quiz.”

Said the captain of the victorious SMU team, Mr Hong Dijun , "Taking part in this SPH Foundation Singapore Universities Business Quiz has been a rewarding journey for us and we have also personally benefitted in many ways."
